GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMP

HOW IT WORKS

A geothermal heat pump uses geothermal heat as its energy source. Using a probe of up to 100 m in length, in which a frostproof heat-carrying fluid circulates, geothermal energy is extracted and transformed into heat for home heating and hot water. The technology in this system functions in the opposite way to that used in a refrigerator.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The system uses free-of-charge geothermal energy. Generating 4.5 kWh of this energy requires
        approximately 1 kWh of electricity.
Geothermal electricity is often subsidised by local energy providers.
Due to the low flow-temperatures, a geothermal heat pump is ideal suited for use in combination with the
standard Hanse Haus underfloor heating system.
A permit from local water authorities is necessary for the bore hole that is required.
