Geothermal heat pumps

Geothermal heat pumps utilise geothermal energy, a free natural energy source, for heating your home whatever the time of year. During the summer the soil stores heat generated directly from the sun. The near-surface geothermal layer, plus even deeper underground levels, provide a free heat source which keeps an almost constant temperature all year round. Geothermal heat pumps can utilise these free and abundant heat sources directly for your house heating system.

How it works:

The Geothermal Loop uses the deeper underground levels in which an almost constant temperature is maintained throughout the year. The probes extend down into the ground for upto 120 metres in depth, and within them circulates a water-glycol mixture. The probes extract the energy from the soil and channels it to a heat pump. The fluid then circulates around the system once more, and the process repeats itself. Since the apparatus has only a small space requirement, it is extremely suitable for small properties.

Advantages:

• Reduction of heating costs
• All year round energy whatever the season
• Active reduction of CO2 emissions
• A sustainable, future-proof energy source increases the value of your property
• Government funding is available for more for affordable initial investment
